I would pay big bucks to hear my Meemaw tell a PG 13 aristocrats joke. Spoiler Warning for those who are interested: Honestly, I thought Carey Elwes and the one dude Riley had the accusation against were gonna be red herrings because they were so clearly evil that the movie couldnt be that obvious with their no they both were villains and the reveal was just so deflating. The whole mystery of the film is who is doing this and why but anyone who watches this movie and pays attention slightly can point out the main baddies in their first or second scene. How much more surprising would it have been if the tech friend in the sweater was the big bad and the dude bro Riley accused ends up saving her life, at least earning, in some small way, redemption for what he did to her? Would it have made much sense? No but it wouldve been a surprise.

If this us an example of women making horror movies no wonder there aren't many (excluding the excellent Soska sisters. maybe Mr Blum let them make this to prove his point?
I appreciate Blumhouse are trying to revive traditional old school horror movies and have enjoyed most of them even though I'm one of the few that was pretty disappointed by the latest Halloween reboot... It just pinched pieces and scenes from all the previous films and reworked them with boring one dimensional main characters excluding Laurie, the young baby sitter, her boyfriend and the little boy. and they killed two of them off. go figure!
This movie has nothing to do with Bob Clark's cult slasher and an insult to his legacy (well other than the white cat Claude who has even changed sex too.
If this movie had been released under another name it wouldn't have recieved the hate it's getting as it's not badly made, but seems like a draun out 10 minute short from a Halloween dvd compilation like All Hallows Eve 2 or Holidays...
Blumhouse should take note of Sydney's end quote in Scream 4 "The first rule of remakes is don't fxxx with the original" and now they are buying that franchise so be warned...

Not necessarily looking forward to Black Christmas (mainly because I haven't seen anything about it. The trailer is apparently has a huge spoiler, so I'm avoiding that, and from what I've heard it has nothing to do with the Black Christmas IP. That aside, PG-13 horror can be great when done effectively. I hate it when horror (or any) movies are written to be R, but are put down to a PG-13 in later stages because they always turn out disappointing. But if a horror is made from the go as PG-13, it can be really great and effective. The first few great PG-13 horror films that come to mind are A Quiet Place, The Grudge (US) and The Hole. All effective at conveying horror and suspense to the audience, while not needing an R rating.

The old turn young and grand parents or great grand parents playing the lead role in the game but exchange of words dialogues interaction that more than game the interaction between simmering on old and young characters that sounds occupied with comic.

Oh my god. I've heard about this film for years and have heard how great it was but nothing could of prepared me for how much I loved the film. I loved the cinematography, the atmosphere, the mounting dread as the girls are picked off one by one and the house seems to get bigger and more cold as this happens. I also thought the subplot surrounding the girl going missing/being found dead in the park was a great addition and a great way to distract a lot of the police from the sorority house. I thought the last act was so chilling and scary to me. Everything from Jess getting told the calls are coming from inside the house, to her stumbling to the door confused on wanting to leave but also wanting to get her friends. I loved the moment she saw Billy behind the door and slammed into it, that whole chase scene into the basement made me jump out of my seat because it's been building to this moment. I fucking loved this movie It's also very easy to see where John Carpenter got a lot of his influences from. We have a small central cast of female characters, an isolated house, a POV perspective from the killer and an open ending. 'Halloween' takes a lot of the aspects of this films and shines them into perfection. It's safe to say that 'Halloween' quite possibly might not have been as loved or as acclaimed if John didn't use these tactics. Not to say John doesn't know how to direct but he used these already great templates and placed them in his film. The original 'Halloween' is a masterpiece and so is 'Black Christmas. But I do really wish 'Black Christmas' had the same reputation that 'Halloween' did. The film has received acclaimed and is beloved my many, but it's not nearly as lauded and iconic as 'Halloween' is. I also watched a behind the scenes making of right after this film, and they talked to other directors who made slasher films who subconsciously used stuff from 'Black Christmas' in their films. For example, the director of 'My Bloody Valentine' said that his ending of his movie which involves Axel singing this creepy lullaby as he backs away into the darkness of the minds is similar to the song Billy sings in 'Black Christmas. Also, the original title of this film was 'Stop Me. I wonder why that was the original title and I wonder if this was the title that was kept, would it have changed slashers as we know it since so many of them are named after holidays. I also wish this is the type of film that 'When A Stranger Calls' 1979) was. I wish it cut out the poorly done, awkward character study and stayed in the house the entire time. Bottomline. I fucking loved this film and am mad at myself for taking this long to finally watching it. It's a classic and pioneer in every sense of the word. I loved it.

Two of the worst received horror/ slasher remakes in existence. Which one do you think is the better remake, why and by how much? Personally I think the Prom Night remake is more entertaining than Black Christmas but theres some things in Black Christmas that I enjoyed more than Prom Night. level 1 Cabin fever remake is the worst actually. level 1 Prom Night was at least entertaining. BC19 was just boring. level 2 That's my thought as well. But so far as slasher remakes, i think Sorority Row (2009) was abysmal. level 1 They both are horrid but watching the Black Christmas remake was the worst experience Ive ever had besides the time I swallowed a Christmas ornament as a 2 year old child. Long story short, the movie is shat. level 1 Both Black Christmas remakes sucked level 1 I'm a sucker for slashers of the 2000s, so there's a bit of charm in Prom Night and it's certainly more entertaining than 2019's Black Christmas, which I thought to be more "feminist" than slasher. I am not going to see this for the sole reason that they swapped the names. Getting real tired of this pc garbage. I want to be very clear, this trailer is absolutely TERRIFYING. 2006 was a giant mess. PLEASEEEEE don't ruin Black Christmas.
